Peter Weller is an American actor, director, and art historian renowned for his wide-ranging contributions to film, television, and academia. He is best known for his iconic portrayal of the titular character in RoboCop (1987) and its sequel RoboCop 2 (1990), as well as the cult classic The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984).
Weller has demonstrated remarkable versatility throughout his career, taking on roles in critically acclaimed films such as Naked Lunch (1991), Mighty Aphrodite (1995), and The New Age (1994). On television, he is well remembered for his performance as Christopher Henderson in 24, and as the corrupt ex-cop Charles Barosky in Sons of Anarchy, where he also directed several episodes.
In addition to his acting career, Weller is a seasoned director and an accomplished academic. He hosted the History Channel’s Engineering an Empire (2005–2007) and earned a Master’s degree in Roman and Renaissance Art from Syracuse University. He later received his Ph.D. in Italian Renaissance Art History from UCLA in 2014, with a dissertation focused on Leon Battista Alberti.
